What to Expect During Your Child’s Appointment
The force utilised when adjusting babies and children is very gentle. When adjusting babies Dr Minns utilises a “finger pressure” technique that achieves the goal of correcting the subluxations in the child’s spine.
Our Approach to Adjustments
Our chiropractic team takes their time with each of their paediatric patients. We introduce them to the practice and use an age-appropriate approach – to help the child understand what will happen during their adjustments. If they’re able to understand, we talk them through the process and make them feel welcome.
A paediatric patient is not simply a little adult. They are their own entity and are treated as such. We have distinct procedures to follow, both in terms of examination and adjusting, and it will always be done with the child’s comfort in mind.
Your Child’s First Appointment
Dr Minns or Dr Beavington will take the child and parent or caregiver through a thorough consultation. A complete chiropractic, orthopaedic and neurological examination will be performed to determine the exact nature of their underlying issue/s. From there, we can determine if chiropractic will be a good fit for the child.
Once all the information is collected, your child’s next appointment is the Report of Findings. It isn’t until the second appointment that adjustments are made, with your permission, of course.
